Cubs Hoping To Add Reliever

Feb 10, 2023 8:25 AM

The Chicago Cubs have had a busy offseason but remain focused on making at least one more move before pitchers and catchers hold their first spring workouts next week.

Specifically, the Cubs would like to add another reliever to the roster.

In terms of Major League bullpen additions, the Cubs have signed Brad Boxberger and claimed Julian Merryweather off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays so far this offseason.

Arte Moreno: Angels Would 'Like To Keep Shohei Ohtani'

Feb 9, 2023 8:10 AM

Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno says he hopes to keep Shohei Ohtani as the two-way superstar enters the final year of his contract.

Ohtani will make $30 million this season under his final year of team control.

"I'd like to keep Ohtani," Moreno said of the 2021 American League MVP. "He's one of a kind, he's a great person. He's obviously one of the most popular baseball players in the world, and he's an international star. He's a great teammate. He works hard. He's a funny guy, and he has a really good rapport with fans."

The Angels have endured seven-straight losing seasons and have missed the playoffs in each of the last eight years.

Max Kepler May Remain With Twins After All

Feb 3, 2023 8:33 AM

There has been widespread speculation that the Minnesota Twins would shop Max Kepler in trades this offseason.

A trade is now becoming less and less likely, according to a report.

That's largely because the Twins haven't gotten what they consider to be a compelling offer for Kepler.

Bullpen Upgrades 'Not A Priority' For Twins

Feb 2, 2023 10:03 AM

The Minnesota Twins have been active this offseason, but changes to the bullpen don't appear likely.

"If we were to do anything at this point, it would likely be to add depth in the middle [innings]," president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said. "We'll keep an open mind, but [relief pitching is] not a priority."

The Twins ranked in the middle of the pack in terms of relief pitching this past season.

Minnesota's collective 3.84 ERA was tied for 15th among the 30 teams in the league, while their 3.85 FIP was 14th, their 3.79 xFIP 10th and their 3.50 SIERA ninth.
